In 2004, Planting Peace began its efforts to help 150 million homeless children worldwide. Our first project was a small children’s home in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Since then, we have opened one other orphanage in Haiti and two in India. Two of our orphanages are specialty homes, one serving HIV orphans in Haiti and the other serving Handicap children in India. It is our continued goal to open more orphanages and to rescue more children from the street.
Housing is a basic human need. We see to it that the orphans in our care are properly housed, with room to spare.
Nutrition is very important to us and we take it very seriously. Planting Peace orphanages have great food available to help these children grow up strong and healthy.
Medical aid is provided to all the children in our care.

300,000 Haitian children are classified as “restavek” — child slaves. These children are treated as indentured domestic servants and are susceptible to high rates of sexual abuse.
Thousands of orphans are living with HIV/AIDS in Haiti. Due to stigma and lack of health services, these children are left to die. Planting Peace is one of the only organizations in Haiti that rescues children living with HIV/AIDS.
